Vinyl, how it should sound

To maintain the unique warmth of vinyl sound, the Solo phono preamp has been carefully designed with a power supply that includes the latest in toggle mode and a new surface on which to mount the circuitry to reduce unwanted sound.

Why a dedicated phono preamp?

Taking into account the low level of the signals emitted by the turntables, not all Hi-Fi amplifiers allow direct connection to the turntable. The preamp boosts this signal to a level that an amplifier can work with. The challenge in this phase of playback is the noise that is very easy to add to the signal.

For this reason, Cambridge Audio has created Solo with well-chosen pieces that preserve the warm and detailed sound corresponding to vinyl, without distorting the signal born in the MM (Moving Magnet) capsule. The alternating mode power supply improves playback by alternating beyond the audible frequency to significantly reduce hum, and new circuitry uses surface-mounted parts to reduce noise.

Attention to details

If wear has made a dent in some vinyl, the subsonic filter will help eliminate the noise caused by these imperfections. Meanwhile, with the balance control to manage possible imbalances of the turntable (causing differences between the left and right channels) you get a detailed experience with precise acoustic scene.

Eco Friendly

The Solo phono preamp has a heart committed to the environment, consuming less than half a watt in Standby and automatically turning off if it detects no activity for a period of 20 minutes. Thus, the device has a compatible voltage on a global scale, and can work anywhere in the world.
