The FiiO K17 is FiiO's new generation amplifier/DAC, which aims to be unique and excellent in performance. It is a symphony of retro elegance and cutting-edge technology, with a unique design and great functionality, all wrapped in a powerful body.
This Amp/DAC is not only the updated successor to the K9 Pro, but also an exploration of new possibilities for a high-end desktop DAC and headphone amplifier, designed for the most demanding headphones.
The FiiO K17 incorporates an M21586Q DSP chip capable of performing 64-bit, double-precision floating-point calculations, and operates at a clock frequency of 360 MHz. This chip is complemented by a high-performance ES9821Q DAC and a specially customized ultra-low phase noise femtosecond crystal oscillator.
These three components allow the user, in all modes, to use the 31-band high-precision lossless PEQ. The PEQ is designed to ensure that the audio signal remains high fidelity even after being processed. The chip also enables robust output protection functionality, ensuring that headphones and other connected audio equipment are fully protected.
With alarger color screenthan other similar devices, combined with a custom version of Android 12 that includes a custom vertical display system, the screen is clear and easy to read. Direct interaction with the device is intuitive, making it easy to handle various operations from start-up.
So, you can directly feel how each touch takes you easily and quickly where you want.
An important part of the K17 is a carefully crafted fully discrete headphone amplifier circuit. This discrete circuit has an OP+ transistor current amplification design, equipped with the classic pair of ON Semiconductor MJE243/253 transistors, capable of producing high current with low output impedance. The result is an output power of 4000mW+4000mW in balanced mode, almost double that of the K9 Pro ESS. This allows you to easily power various types of headphones and IEMs and produce a smooth, pleasant and natural sound.
In the FiiO K17 is the iconic AKM DAC chip combination: AK4191+AK449EX x 2. Two AK4499EX chips handle each channel. The 8-channel to 4-channel LPF design reduces common mode interference, improving channel separation and dynamics.
It also features a newly designed architecture with completely separate digital/analog portions, which also incorporates the newly developed "DWA ROUTING" technology for an even cleaner audio background and improved resolution.
The FiiO K17 incorporates eight operating modes, depending on its connections:
From the DAC, through I/V conversion, low-pass filtering and headphone amplifier, the entire audio circuit has a fully differential circuit architecture design. This guarantees both a high dynamic range of signals and a significant reduction in crosstalk. Various parts of the audio circuit, including the I/V and LPF conversion stages, use multiple OP1612 low-noise precision operational amplifiers to ensure dynamic audio output.
The various sections of the internal power supply and the digital and analog sections are located on physically separate circuit boards to avoid interference between them. This ensures the precision and integrity of signal processing for a pure, cleaner audio output.
The FiiO K17 is powered by a high quality low noise transformer, which ensures the purity of the power supplied. Additionally, five 4700uF electrolytic capacitors provide ample power reserves to ensure stable power supply.
Separate power supplies for analog and digital circuits effectively avoid crosstalk and interference between them.
The FiiO K17's analog audio circuitry is powered by a multistage power supply. Many of the stages have dedicated power control circuitry, including those for digital-to-analog conversion, LPF and transistor. The low-noise, high-rejection-ratio TPA7A47/7A33 LDO regulators also act as secondary voltage regulators to continuously provide stable, clean power.
This FiiO K17 employs three industry-leading ACCUSILICION ultra-low phase noise femtosecond crystal oscillators, including the AS318-L and AS318-Pro.
These oscillators significantly reduce the impact of phase noise on audio signals, allowing audio signals of different sample rates to be accurately and faithfully restored for purer, more consistent sound.
The K17 features a high-performance X2000 multi-core processor. The processor features a unique design consisting of a main XBurst@2 CPU core with two more logical CPUs and a small XBurst@ core. This chip offers excellent computing power with low power consumption.
The X200 ensures precise audio signal processing and stable and smooth audio playback. Low-power ESP32-S3 SoC: Inside this chip is a high-performance 32-bit Xtensa LX7 dual-core processor, capable of running at up to 240Mhz, as well as an ultra-low-power coprocessor. This SoC allows the K17 to offer a fast and fluid user experience.
The design skillfully fuses square and circle into a harmonious whole, combining retro elegance with a modern technological aura, for a refreshing experience. Functionality and design have been carefully considered: for example, multiple controls facilitate control and the grid structure accelerates heat dissipation.
Through the K17 you have multiple control options available:
Listen with peace of mind thanks to various protection mechanisms that can intelligently detect abnormal conditions and perform automatic protection to prevent damage to the device, such as headphone and temperature protection, transformer protection, output overload protection, output DC protection and power input overcurrent protection.
The Ethernet port present on the FiiO K17 supports speeds up to Gigabit for fast and stable data transmission. The AP6356 Wi-Fi module supports 2.4G and 5G wireless networks as an alternative but equally stable method of transmitting lossless audio.
