Slim and powerful, PHANTOM M-375 has been designed for multi-channel recessed installation. With three 7” woofers, it offers spacious DALI sound capable of filling your home theater room – without physically dominating the space of the room.
WIDE DISPERSION
All DALI speakers are designed for wide dispersion. This means an optimization of off-axis audio reproduction and is a perfect technology for installing speakers, embedding them inside or on the wall.
THIN HOUSING
One of the objectives of the PHANTOM S and M models is to create high-end built-in speakers with a narrow design that allows maximum installation flexibility. DALI has achieved this, providing them with housing depths of only 100-103mm, which fits into most standard walls.
MAGNETIC GRILL
The magnetic and floating front grill shapes the visual presence of PHANTOM S and M. The Nordic design, simple, discreet and modern, is non-intrusive and, at the same time, pleasing to the eye.
TRADITIONAL SPEAKER TECHNOLOGY
PHANTOM high-end speakers are the natural choice when looking for an audio installation for a hi-fi experience. Not only does the PHANTOM H consist of wood fiber cones and drivers built into a classic MDF baffle, but the placement of the woofer and tweeter are similar to those of our classic speakers.
The PHANTOM M series allows you to enjoy high-quality sound reproduction from compact built-in speakers, more than capable of filling a room with sound from their discreet position, hidden in the walls.
The Phantom M-375 features proven technology, decades of experience and many of the same strengths as the flagship PHANTOM S series. The PHANTOM M series features a more compact design and a more affordable price.
The PHANTOM M-375 has been developed with a focus on a multi-channel system and is equally suitable for front, center or surround placement. But, as a speaker, it complies with DALI sound principles so it also fits perfectly with a traditional stereo setup – with or without a subwoofer.
The M series has been 100% designed and assembled in the DALI factory in Denmark.
WOOFERS
The PHANTOM M-375 has 3 7" woofers – one active and two passive slaves. All three are designed with a very “flat” cone geometry to increase the volume of the case.
All individual parts of the PHANTOM M are assembled in the DALI factory. This ensures that they work consistently to reproduce a clean, detailed sound, without unwanted coloration or distortion.
Each driver is configured to fit the model to which it has been designated. Something that is done to optimize the bass drivers for great extrusion and the midrange driver for a wide and useful frequency response, so the roll-off is in the hands of the crossover and not the driver.
This same type of optimization is done with all M Series woofers.
The woofers feature DALI's patented SMC technology in their magnetic system, which means really low hysteresis and, consequently, minimal distortion.
HYBRID TWEETER
The PHANTOM M-375 features DALI's patented hybrid tweeter, offering a ribbon tweeter paired with a dome tweeter.
The DALI ribbon tweeter is a true master of horizontal high-frequency sound distribution, and the best partner for the soft dome tweeter's unique ability to reproduce the lowest part of the high frequencies.
The PHANTOM M-375's oversized 28mm soft dome tweeter is manufactured in the DALI factory and is built for maximum dynamics, high supported power and fantastic integration with midrange frequencies.
The soft dome diaphragm is based on ultra-light fabric. Compared to most soft dome tweeters on the market, the DALI tweeter dome material weighs less than half (0.060 mg per mm2). The relatively large diaphragm allows the tweeter to generate a higher sound pressure level with less extrusion, keeping the necessary voice coil movement to a minimum.
The soft dome tweeter is also optimized for greater bandwidth in its lower frequency area. This ensures a perfect transfer from the mid-woofers to the tweeter, creating a balanced, tension-free and very coherent upper midrange.
If the M-375 is to be used as a centerpiece in a surround configuration, the tweeter module must be unscrewed and rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. In this way, the ribbon tweeter remains vertical to ensure wide horizontal dispersion.
CASING
Both the PHANTOM M-250 and PHANTOM M-350 feature the same housing size – including a mounting depth of just 100mm. This size is really compact for a fully built-in speaker. Therefore, to achieve maximum volume inside the housing for low frequency reproduction, DALI decided on a housing made of glass-reinforced ABS, which provides superior structural strength to the entire structure. Twin bass ports take pressure off the compact housing, achieving a satisfying, spacious sound.
As both PHANTOM M models have the same case size, you can wait until a more advanced stage of installation to decide between the two.
The front baffle and edge of the M-375 phantom are lacquered in matte black, and you won't find any shiny details on the front. This facilitates easy integration with any home cinema, in which as a user you do not want the light from the projector to reflect anywhere except in the image on the screen.
The thin front grill visor, magnetic and completely paintable, allows for a zero-intrusive aesthetic in the room.
SMC
The use of the SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) of the PHANTOM M-250 has many advantages, but by adding the SMC in an area close to the magnet gap, the overall result is a notable reduction in distortion due to losses in the magnetic motor.
SMC's unique ability to offer high magnetic conductivity and very low electrical conductivity offers the qualities necessary for a great speaker magnet, without the traditional disadvantages.
When using iron magnets in speakers, the magnetization and demagnetization caused by the directions of the different currents do not follow the same pattern. The demagnetization process is slower than the magnetization process. This phenomenon is called hysteresis and is a known problem in most speaker magnetic motor systems.
The problem with hysteresis is that it induces unintentional resistance in the voice coil, leading to unwanted distortion. Hysteresis happens because iron not only conducts magnetism, but is also a great electrical conductor.
For its part, SMC is a very highly magnetic conductor, but it has very low electrical conductivity (around 1/10,000 parts compared to iron). The result of using SMC is that there is almost no hysteresis, and therefore no distortion.
