DALI ALTECO C-1 is a true multifunction speaker. It fits perfectly to add overhead sound to a surround home cinema, or taking the role of an out-of-the-way stereo speaker. The crossover has been designed for stereo use and by keeping a firm focus on DALI acoustic principles, the Danish firm has created a speaker that delivers credible overhead acoustic information from Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D movies.
DUAL SOUND MODE
The exclusive angular design together with the dual sound mode allows this speaker to be used in many different situations. Choose “UP” on the front speaker toggle to send sound waves both straight and downward, or choose “DOWN” for downward-directed sound when the listening position is close.
UP-FIRING
The angular design of DALI ALTECO makes them perfect for up-firing use. Together with a surround receiver with the ability to manage height information (Dolby Atmos, DTS-X or Auro-3D), they are placed on the front speakers and even on the rear speakers, offering sound reflected from the height information in compatible movies and concerts.
WOOD FIBER CONES
DALI low loss cones are made of a lightweight paper cone with wood fiber reinforcement. The latter also provides an irregular surface that minimizes surface resonance. Thus, the best possible reproduction of all the details of the audio signal is achieved.
SOFT DOME TWEETER
The dome tweeter offers best-in-class resolution with extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low coloration. A clear inheritance from DALI's high-end ranges. The tweeter consists of ultra-light fabric, which weighs less than half of the market standard (0.056 mg/mm2).
VERSATILITY
Thanks to its solvency and design, DALI ALTECO C-1 can be used in the following ways:
Up-Firing in 5.1.2: Placing it over the front speakers in a surround system to add height information.
Height Speakers in 5.1.2: Located high on the front wall in a surround system to add acoustic information at height.
Side speaker in 7.1: Located on the side walls
Rear speaker in 5.1: Located on the wall behind the listening point
Front stereo speaker: Located high on the front wall
In-Side Speaker: located horizontally in the corners of the front wall.
Tabletop stereo speaker: integrating into a desktop near-field ecosystem.
DALI ALTECO C-1 is a multifunction speaker both in design and functionality. DALI wanted to ensure that ALTECO C-1 can be used both as a height speaker and as a pair of traditional stereo boxes. With a crossover designed for stereo use and maintaining a focus on DALI acoustic principles, the Danish firm has created a speaker that meets both criteria. It's perfect for adding height information to a surround setup, while also serving as a standout pair of stereo speakers.
ALTECO C-1 delivers sound with height information with verisimilitude of Atmos, DTS-X and 3D Audio movies. Not only using up-fire placement, in which they use the ceiling to reflect sound, but also in fire-down mode from positions below the ceiling.
ALTECO C-1 achieves this without the need for special equalization to enhance the effects of HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) technology. A technology included in Atmos certified speakers. Instead, ALTECO C-1 relies exclusively on the height management process performed by the amplifier once selected. Including non-linear HRTF equalization in ALTECO C-1 would have meant the impossibility of using them as versatile neutral speakers, limiting their use exclusively to up-firing mode.
Designed in this way, the DALI ALTECO C-1 offers the best of several worlds, giving the user the ultimate in flexibility and multiple applications.
With a 4½” low-loss wood fiber woofer and a 21mm soft dome tweeter as its core, ALTECO C-1 offers all the acoustic principles of DALI in a new and exclusive design.
The wood fiber cones are patented by DALI, as well as numerous and proven technology. The ALTECO C-1 cone membrane is manufactured from a mixture of granulated paper and wood fiber pulp. This results in a very robust, very light cone and an irregular finish that helps reduce surface resonance.
By combining the good behavior of the wood fiber cone with the low-loss surround and the spider suspension, a reproduction is achieved that covers even the smallest details of the signal, without filters and with high precision.
The angled front and dual sound mode allow ALTECO C-1 to be used in multiple speaker positions.
Adding height information to any surround setup, placing ALTECO C-1 over the front or rear speakers. It can also replace the classic front speakers located high up or in the corners of the front wall. It also offers the perfect angle for close-range listening in a desktop setup.
The switch on the front allows you to select the sound in down-fire mode, so ALTECO C-1 can be used as a rear or surround speaker by placing it on a wall close to the listening position. This is possible because the sound in down-fire mode reduces the direction of the sound by 25 degrees.
DALI ALTECO C-1 is a true master of versatility. Giving the user the flexibility to effortlessly add height information to surround sound equipment, achieving the perfect angle on rear or surround speakers or bringing music into rooms where speakers can't get in the way.
The basic function of any speaker is to convert the electrical signal from the amplifier into a realistic audio experience in the listening room. Any distortion or coloration of the original signal by drivers or enclosures is, by definition, a degradation of sound.
In the audio signal, clarity is achieved through low information loss and smooth, easy-appearing reproduction in both time and frequency.
Using only drivers designed and customized by DALI eliminates the need for frequency correction in the crossover. This allows the Danish firm to design an exact crossover made of high-quality components that guarantees that signal loss tends to zero.
Another basic feature is to reduce mechanical distortion. Something to ensure that the amplifier will not be exposed to greater demands than desired, causing loss of detail in the signal before it has even reached the speaker.
With very low mechanical loss, the faintest details of the sound are maintained, even at low volume levels. This is the only way to achieve the ultimate feeling of transparency and liveliness of the sound reproduced by a speaker.
