The DALI PHANTHOM H series

The PHANTOM H series is a range of built-in speakers created with traditional speaker technology. At its center it is easy to recognize the DALI woofer cone made from a mixture of paper pulp and wood fiber. This gives the cone lightness, good behavior and an uneven structure that helps reproduce even the slightest details of the music.

The powerful low-loss magnetic system offers precision at low frequencies and the ultra-light dome tweeter provides great resolution at high frequencies. Together they achieve a very coherent, highly detailed, clear and natural sound scene. The PHANTOM H series is a complete range of speakers that does not need an additional subwoofer, as it is all true high fidelity, versatility and flexibility.

DESIGN

Retaining the virtues of a traditional speaker in the built-in segment, the DALI PHANTOM H series combines a compact design with quality reproduction. The drivers are firmly mounted in the front baffle grooves with the tweeter positioned close to the woofer for optimal integration.

The H-120's front baffle is constructed of solid MDF, giving drivers a solid structure to work on. This robust material keeps the drivers in place, eliminating unwanted vibrations and ensuring optimal integration into both the ceiling and the wall.

The PHANTOM H series adds improvements to the basic front baffle design with ultra-thin edges, for a firmer and more secure fit with the mounting area. This also helps the overall strength and rigidity of the speaker.

The dogleg mounting system makes the installation process a simple, one-step action. Simply insert the PHANTOM H series speaker into the installation area and, from the front, tighten the screws so that the dogleg hooks open and exert force against the rear. If the mounting surface is very wide, flipping the dogleg hitches allows you to expand the mounting grips up to 70mm.

CROSSOVER

Every part of the crossover has been carefully selected for its audiophile quality and the crossover has been specially made for the H-120 model. All PHANTOM H models include the PTC (Positive Polymer Temperature Coefficient) safety feature. This protects the driver parts from excessive temperature when playing at very high volumes for a long period of time. In-wall speakers are typically installed to be able to fill spaces larger than the one in which they are installed, so if the user is in another room the volume may accidentally be turned up too high. The PTC system prevents this from happening, acting as a fuse if the current is too high.

Internal wiring is optimized for the speaker design and secured to eliminate the possibility of rattle. The terminals are located directly on the crossover for the shortest possible signal pattern, and the spring-loaded grip ensures a long-lasting connection to the speaker.

TWEETER

Much of the DALI's acoustic definition emanates from its soft dome tweeter. The ferrite magnetic motor system is capable of supporting more power and disperses the heat generated in the voice coil quickly, thus reducing power compression.

The ultra-light binding fabric together with the efficient magnetic motor system allows the tweeter to reproduce high frequencies with greater accuracy, giving the PHANTOM H-120 a highly detailed sound.

The position of the front of the tweeter next to the dome has been optimized to create the best possible working conditions for the soft dome. The idea is to merge and extend the frequency response with the wide dispersion of low coloration, as well as improve the integration of both the tweeter and the midrange and bass drivers.

WOOFER

A true HiFi speaker is capable of delivering a credible sound scene, reproducing even the smallest micro detail of the audio signal without coloration while letting the amplifier do all the work. DALI has designed the PHANTOM H-120 woofers to meet that and many other demands. Basing the woofer on DALI's patented materials, the ultra-light wood fiber cone, provides the basis for reproducing every small detail of the music, offering a high-resolution midrange and the precise and coherent bass for which DALI is known.

To take it even further, the cone is surrounded by a low-loss rubber damper. All controlled by a powerful magnetic motor system that ensures that the cone structure can start and stop without problem. The dual magnets work with the 25 and 30mm voice coils which together deliver high magnetic flux. The large diameter of the voice coil also helps maintain power.

WIDE DISPERSION

All DALI speakers have been designed according to the principle of wide dispersion. This involves optimizing audio playback, helping to deliver optimal music or movie audio for as much room surface as possible. This technology is perfect for use with recessed speakers, since these are always located against the wall or ceiling. Working with off-axis optimization ensures that the user has an area in which the sound image is perfect, but also that the sound received outside of that area remains of high quality.
