DALI PHANTOM E-60 is the perfect built-in speaker. It is not so large as to make it difficult to place, but it is large enough to offer a complete sound experience. The E-60 is equipped with a 6½" woofer and designed for optimal use in the ceiling, although it can also be recessed into the wall.
FLEXIBLE
The PHANTOM-E series is also easy to place in any room and will work perfectly even off-axis due to the audio adjustments made for the perfect reproduction of this speaker.
INVISIBLE DESIGN
The ultra-thin front grilles blend discreetly into any environment.
EASY INSTALLATION
The Dogleg mounting system makes the installation process simple, requiring only the appropriate screwdrivers to secure the brackets.
WIDE DISPERSION
All DALI speakers are designed for wide dispersion. This means an optimization of off-axis audio reproduction and is a perfect technology for installing speakers, embedding them inside or on the wall.
This model is a perfect versatile speaker. It is not too big and therefore still easy to place, but it is large enough to offer a complete and total audio experience. Use it for a stereo setup in a kitchen or family room, or to complete a surround sound installation in a larger room as a side or rear speaker.
Back box - Optional accessory
The PHANTOM E-60 can also be combined with the well-known DALI backbox (optional), which protects the speaker against moisture, dust and dirt. The sound quality remains constant (symmetrical load), even if the acoustic environment behind the wall/ceiling is uneven.
With the back box, rear sound radiation is prevented, reducing acoustic leakage from room to room or from floor to floor.
The DALI PHANTOM E series is designed for optimal use in the ceiling, but will also work when mounted flush into the wall. The compact construction and easy-to-use 360° system makes it easy to position the speaker for an optimal sound experience. Two discrete switches offer audio adjustment options to ensure the listener gets the most from the speakers, even in traditionally difficult rooms.
The tilted woofer and slightly off-center soft dome tweeter blend gracefully to produce a richly detailed and crisp sound. The polypropylene cone is more resistant to moisture than traditional DALI - wood fiber cone materials, making the PHANTOM E series more flexible when it comes to placement in covered outdoor areas and bathrooms.
Optionally, the PHANTOM E series can be equipped with a square front grille.
The PHANTOM E-60 features improvements over the basic front baffle design, with thinner outer edges for a tighter, more secure fit in the mounting area. This also helps the overall strength and rigidity of the speaker.
The dogleg mounting system allows for a simple, one-step assembly process. Simply insert the PHANTOM E-60 into the prepared mounting area, and from the front of the speaker tighten the screws to adjust the dogleg brackets that will abut against the back of the mounting surface. If the mounting surface is very thick, it is possible to adjust the dogleg up to 70mm.
The PHANTOM E-60 front grills have been updated to the taste of custom users. The sleek new design helps the speaker blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
Every piece of the crossover has been carefully selected for its audiophile quality and the PHANTOM E-60 crossover has been specifically designed for this model.
The Phantom E-60 includes the PTC safety function (Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient device). This protects the driver parts from overheating if played at very high volumes for a long time. In-wall speakers are often used to carry music beyond the room where they are installed, so users in another room can accidentally turn up the volume to extremely high levels, which could damage the speakers. The PTC system prevents this from happening, acting as a resistor if the power goes too high.
All internal wiring is optimized for the speaker design and is positioned and secured to eliminate any possibility of interference. The terminals are placed directly on the crossover to keep the signal path as short as possible, and the spring knob ensures the longest possible speaker cable life.
The PHANTOM E-60's 25mm soft dome tweeter is bonded to the woofer in a composite enclosure mounted on an aviation-grade wishbone bracket. By mounting the tweeter above the woofer, the size of the speaker can be minimal.
The aerodynamic wing design and centering of the tweeter helps eliminate "coaxial coloration" typically associated with coaxial drivers. This position also helps the midrange and bass to be emitted harmoniously alongside the treble for well-compensated reproduction even at high pressure levels.
The adjustment wheel on the outer edge allows you to adjust the direction of the speaker for an optimal acoustic scene.
DALI considered versatility important when designing the PHANTOM E-60, as well as the possibility of using it in areas where other recessed lights from the brand are not usually placed. To achieve the best balance between durability and great audio reproduction, polypropylene was chosen as the cone material.
The woofer is tilted at an angle to improve sound and scene directionality. The cone, surround and magnetic motor system have been designed following DALI low loss principles. That makes the PHANTOM E-60 an easy speaker to move around, and even the smallest of amplifiers will be able to achieve a high-quality audio experience with the PHANTOM E-60.
All DALI speakers have been designed based on wide dispersion. This involves an optimization of off-axis acoustic reproduction. Off-axis optimization delivers music or audiovisual sound to the widest possible area of the room. This technology is perfect for use with recessed speakers, as they install either on the wall or on the ceiling. Working with off-axis optimization allows the user to achieve a wide sweetspot where the acoustic scene is perfect, but also for the sound heard from outside the sweetspot to maintain a high quality.
The PHANTOM E-60 has two audio settings that are used to manage speaker playback.
Focus/Distribute switch: this switch directs the tweeter module to better disperse the treble. If your usual listening position is closer to the speaker, no more than 25 degrees off-axis, the Focus setting will be appropriate. However, the typical listening position is more off-axis and in those cases the Distribute setting helps the tweeter disperse the high frequencies so they travel further. This improves the audio experience in every corner of the room.
Normal Tilt/HF: When placing two speakers at a great distance from each other, creating a good soundstage can become difficult. To improve the audio experience in these conditions, DALI has included the possibility of adding an extra 3dB to allow the sound to travel further. In many cases, this helps achieve a better soundstage even in extreme conditions.
