Integrated into the renowned Heritage Series, the Super Linton is a version of the popular Linton that has just been exhaustively updated in all its aspects. The first relevant innovation of this “supermonitor” is in the enclosure, substantially larger thanks to the increase in its height by about 50 mm, and in whose construction a sandwich structure has been used made up of several layers of MDF, coupled together by means of a latex-based damping glue, whose formulation has been specially calculated to reduce the resonance frequency of the assembly below the audibility threshold. For its part, inside the enclosure we find thick plugs of sound-absorbing foam and fiber strands that effectively contribute to absorbing its own vibrations. In parallel, the increase in internal volume and the use of a speaker with a 203 mm intertwined Kevlar fiber cone and equipped with a powerful magnetic motor, has allowed Wharfedale engineers to significantly improve the bass response. Regarding the restoration of the treble, the Super Linton uses for the first time a fine and light textile fabric covered with a special absorbent material in its 25 mm dome, supported by a magnetic motor with a ceramic magnet that contributes to reinforcing its tonal sweetness. A transducer is responsible for reproducing the middle zone, also with a cone of intertwined Kevlar fibers, mounted in a dedicated cylindrical chamber with sound-absorbing fibers that aims to cancel the subsequent wave generated by it and thus maximize the expressiveness of voices and instruments. Finally, managing this speaker system is entrusted to a newly designed crossover filter, whose final configuration was decided after hundreds of hours of listening.
