The DALI OPTICON MK2 range

DALI OPTICON MK2 is made up of six models and is located on the scale of the DALI catalog where both reproduction and engineering take a step forward in quality to be considered authentic high-end Hi-Fi. OPTICON MK2 also introduces the renowned and appreciated DALI hybrid tweeter module, die-cast aluminum driver chassis, pure SMC driver magnets and housings manufactured by the firm in its own facilities. Each OPTICON MK2 model is built around mid/bass drivers manufactured by DALI in-house, and feature either the DALI soft dome tweeter or its hybrid dome and ribbon tweeter module. OPTICON MK2 models are available in three finishes: Satin White, Satin Black and Tobacco Oak*. The grilles are covered with upholsterer quality fabric in black for the two darker finishes and in light gray for the white finish.

* OPTICON 8 MK2 is only available in Satin Black Ash and Tobacco Oak finishes.

DALI OPTICON 8 MK2

The imposing OPTICON 8 MK2 DALI speaker is the powerhouse of the new OPTICON MK2 series. It is the only three-way model in the range, and it combines it with two 8” bass drivers, wood fiber diaphragm and SMC magnets added to a 6½” midrange driver that benefits from the same technologies.

OPTICON 8 MK2 has optional bi-wiring to allow its sections to be powered independently. The driver layout of OPTICON 8 MK2 places the hybrid tweeter module between two well-spaced bass drivers. In this way, the treble and midrange are at the typical height of a user who is seated, and they also benefit from a softer response from the room to the bass thanks to the space dedicated to the drivers responsible for reproducing them.

This arrangement of drivers in the OPTICON MK8 allows them to be placed in the room more easily. Above the midrange driver is the hybrid tweeter module that combines the 29mm soft dome tweeter of the CALLISTO active boxes with another 17 x 45mm ribbon tweeter. The OPTICON 8 MK2 case has separate compartments inside for each driver, with non-parallel dividing panels that prevent internal resonances and increase the rigidity of the case. Each bass section features its own Dual Flare reflex port.

Thanks to its size and true three-way format, OPTICON 8 MK2 offers a higher level of playback than any other model in the range. It combines immense bass, powerful volume and dynamic precision with extraordinary levels of detail and clarity thanks to the use of a dedicated midrange driver. The high frequencies of the hybrid tweeter module are explicitly detailed yet smooth, encouraging long listens.

The OPTICON 8 MK2 columns have an aluminum base that is completed either with black chrome decoupling tips or, to be able to place them on delicate surfaces, vibration damping feet. The tools necessary to assemble them are included as standard.
