The FiiO M23 is the new DAP in FiiO's line of Hi-Res players.
It arrives with the novelty of integrating AKM's top-of-the-range DAC combo with AK4191EQ + AK449EX in a completely renewed design.
On the other hand, it is capable of reaching power figures of 1000mW + 1000mW at 32 Ohms to drive the most demanding headphones. It also integrates a dual type-C port structure, fast charging mode and a unified audio architecture that results in a music player without rival on the market.
Discover the new FiiO M23 and start tuning in to your emotions!
Like the FiiO Q15 and FiiO K9 models, the M23 uses AKM's flagship DAC combo: AK4191EQ+AK449EX.
This is a new design that completely separates the digital and analog parts and also features "DWA ROUTING Technology" to further improve the signal-to-noise ratio. These technologies allow for a purer, higher-resolution audio background, resulting in a relaxed but natural sound.
For the first time in FiiO players, the M23 incorporates a dedicated switch to toggle desktop mode. When desktop mode is enabled, the M23 is powered entirely by an external power source. The built-in battery will not charge or discharge, ensuring that the M23 can be used as a desktop computer without fear of damaging the battery.
On the FiiO M23 there are two USB Type-C ports, one of which is dedicated solely to power.
When this dedicated Type C power port is connected to fast charging, Super High Gain mode can be activated for more gain and more power output. In this mode, the output power can reach up to 1000mW+1000mW per channel, making the M23 more suitable for driving high impedance headphones. While in this mode, the other Type-C port does not draw power and therefore makes it suitable for connecting the M23 to a phone for use as a USB DAC.
The THX AAA 78 headphone amplifiers used in the M11 Plus and M11 Pro have been widely praised by audiophiles around the world.
After several years of perfecting the design, the THX AAA 78+ amplification architecture is introduced in the M23. It enables higher power output with high fidelity, resulting in powerful sound reproduced with extreme precision.
In the M23 there is ahigh caliber audio architectureconsisting of DAC, I/V, LPF, voltage amplification and parallel amplification stages.
Those responsible for handling the I/V and LPF stages are 2 low-noise, high-precision OPA1612 op-amps. Voltage amplification is carried out by 2 low-noise, high-bandwidth OP1662 op-amps. Together, these op-amps ensure that audio signals are accurately reproduced at wide power outputs so that a wide variety of headphones and IEMs can work well with the player, which is also more tunable thanks to four gain levels.
The M23 employs a dual-mode fast charging system that uses extreme fast charging + normal fast charging. When the battery's state of charge is low, Extreme Fast Charging is used to enable charging speeds of up to 30W.
As the battery approaches a full state of charge, the M23 switches to slightly slower normal fast charging, dramatically improving charging times while maintaining battery health.
Specially selected low resistance fast charging batteries resist high temperatures and are combined with MOS protection. The battery performance result of the M23 is excellent:
The audio purification system incorporated in the M23 consists of the HiFi audio core developed by FiiO, which bypasses the original version of Android, and a low-jitter clock coprocessor. Together, the system not only provides a unified, high-precision, low-jitter clock source, but also ensures that the original sample rate of the audio stream is preserved, regardless of whether you use FiiO Music, third-party apps, USB DAC mode, etc.
The 10-band equalizer with FiiO's own tuning algorithm can be used in any operating mode. Through an intuitive interface, users can adjust the frequency points, amplitude, bandwidth and Q value of the equalizer, allowing them to fine-tune or even correct the frequency response curve of the headphones exactly to their liking.
In addition, users can activate the ALL TO DSD function in any operating mode, allowing them to more easily experience the beauty of audio in different formats.
On the M23 you can use six different operating modes: Roon Ready, Android, Pure Music, Bluetooth and AirPlay, which you can quickly switch between to enjoy your music however you want.
But its powerful capabilities don't end there: the M23 can also stream music via DLNA by retrieving music from NAS, local networks and cloud servers via UPNP/SMB/WebDav.
FiiO's classic hexagonal honeycomb design, with its 3D cutouts and defined edges, gives the FiiO M23 a bold yet attractive look. With a galvanic tempered glass panel on the back, this DAP witnesses an intricate labyrinth in which light and shadow play with each other with pleasure.
The5.5-inch high-definition displaywith an 18:9 gold aspect ratio looks and feels fantastic.
In the rest of the M23's functions, we must highlight both its Bluetooth versatility and the 8x MQA decoding to achieve master sound.
For Bluetooth in transmission mode we find: SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LHDC and LDAC. For its part, for the reception mode: SBC, AAC and LDAC.
