DALI KATCH G2

The Danish speaker company DALI Speakers renews its Katch portable speaker in 2021, launching its second generation. The Bluetooth speaker debuts new finishes and upgrades its connectivity, maintaining or improving its key points.

A decidedly portable design, top quality drivers, longer battery life, analog input and USB charging port, two audio profiles... DALI Katch 2 lacks nothing to become your favorite.

These improvements are the result of DALI's continuous R&D work. As masters in creating speakers, sound is a key part that has been taken care of to the millimeter to offer audiophile sound. However, Katch is also an emblem of style. Feature that is maintained in this model update.

Katch G2 DALI drivers and amplification

Katch G2 features the ultra-light 21mm soft dome neodymium tweeter model. Thanks to it, it achieves the greatest possible volume inside the case, taking into account its compact size. The high frequencies sound powerful, detailed and agile, while the vocal and midrange suffer from no damping.

For its part, the 3.5" active aluminum woofer achieves wide dispersion thanks to its spider suspension with inverted membrane design. This design manages to save the size occupied inside the case, which together with DSP technology achieves surprising bass for a laptop of its size.

The DALI Katch G2 driver configuration consists of two tweeters, two active woofers and two passive bass radiators, supported by 2 x 25W RMS Class D amplification.

Katch 2 DALI speaker connectivity

Katch G2 has been enhanced with Bluetooth 5.0 Qualcomm aptX HD technology. This improvement in wireless sound transmission allows it to be used with phones and tablets with 24-bit quality. In addition, NFC technology allows for easy pairing with your smartphone.

Bluetooth 5.0 technology allows two Katch G2s to be paired together to create a wireless stereo system using TWS technology.

To be able to use it practically as a speaker for any device, Katch G2 retains the mini-jack analog input. Thanks to which it can be connected by cable to computers, televisions, phones and any device.

In its chassis, Katch G2 has a USB connection that can be used as a charging port, but it is also compatible with Chromecast Audio. Thanks to Chromecast, you can easily integrate Katch into your home network and connected stereos.

TWS technology

 The True Wireless Stereo (TWS) technology of DALI Katch G2 is the same as that used in truly wireless headphones, which have no cable between them. This allows you to pair two Bluetooth devices and manage them so that each of them plays only one of the two stereo channels (L or R)

Thanks to it, it is possible to achieve authentic stereo sound anywhere, using any mobile phone as a source thanks to Bluetooth 5.0.

Integrated controls

The sound of DALI Katch 2 is audiophile and sophisticated, but they wanted to make the use of their portable speaker very simple. Therefore, it has a series of integrated buttons and automations that make using it very simple.

The four LEDs around the power button will show different information:

In normal state, the battery level.

When the volume is manipulated, the volume level

When manipulating audio profiles, which one is activated

This way, DALI Katch can be easily controlled without the need for apps or other devices, with just a few taps.

Katch G2 Audio Modes

One of the key and distinctive features of DALI Katch is its two audio profiles that allow it to adapt to any situation.

For most situations, and set by default, there is Clear mode. As its name suggests, it offers audiophile and balanced reproduction, suitable for the most demanding ears. Emphasizes detail and precision.

Meanwhile, Warm mode offers extra bass and power. Thanks to this profile, Katch G2 can dominate very large and even outdoor spaces, ensuring that the sound is not lost or sounds muffled. It is the most suitable for enjoying music in a more relaxed way.

You can easily switch between both playback modes by pressing the button on the top of DALI Katch.

Design of DALI Katch G2

DALI Katch is a portable speaker with a careful design that allows it to be easily integrated into all environments. It is also robust enough to be carried with you without damage.

Its chassis is made of extruded aluminum, giving it a robustness contrasted by the sophisticated touch of the filigree that it shows on its grilles. It has a leather carrying handle that makes it easy to carry from one place to another and folds away and is hidden when not needed. 

In addition, the G2 version debuts three new finishes. The DALI logo that serves as a stud on the integrated leather carrying handle has also been updated, and the handle is also dyed in some finishes to match the finish.

New finishes

DALI KATCH G2 launches three new finishes that distinguish it from the original model:  Chilly Blue, Iron Black and Caramel White.

The Iron Black finish is for those who want a black and only black speaker. It is the most discreet and suitable for those who, when not using it as a laptop, like to have it, for example, in the office. Its handle is also black.

Caramel White is a finish that many DALI fans will be familiar with, as it is shared with the DALI iO headphones. In Katch G2 it has been adapted with the off-white chassis and grilles with the caramel-colored leather handle giving the touch that the pads and headband padding provide to the headphones.

The novelty and touch of color come from the Chilly Blue finish. This blue with gray undertones is elegant and has a great personality. It is the right color for those who are not afraid to show off and want to give their speaker an original note. Unlike the previous blue finish, Dark Shadow, the Katch G2 Chilly Blue is a more elegant color and has a handle that matches the finish.

DALI Katch battery

Gone are the 2600 mAh of the first generation. The battery is a point that DALI has improved in Katch G2, increasing it to 3300 mAh, which gives it an autonomy of up to 30 hours.

In just two hours, you will have DALI Katch G2 fully charged, and ready to give you more than a day of uninterrupted audio. The Li-on battery, in addition to great autonomy, offers a lot of durability, so that the speaker continues to maintain its charging capacity for many years.
