The basic idea of ​​an R2R ladder has 2 paired resistors as its core. The first takes the name "R" and the other "2R" which has the double value of R.

To achieve 24-bit decoding, 48 pieces of resistors (23xR and 25x2R) are needed for one channel, making a total of 96 pieces for stereo.

R2R circuits are very demanding when it comes to data integrity, digital volume controls on mobile phones can seriously damage the sound.

Since the usual volume control options cannot reach high standards of precision, low noise and low consumption, Cayin has developed its own volume control using a discrete array of resistors.

Volume steps 0-99 are controlled by 9 segments of resistors and relays which meet transparency standards to maintain the natural sound signature of this R2R DAC

To minimize interference, the circuit that makes up the Cayin RU6 is divided into two motherboards with the digital circuit separated from the analog circuit.
