The FiiO BTR17 is the new Bluetooth DAC/Amplifier in FiiO's dongle range. With a total focus on improving wireless transmission and audio quality, the brand integrates the new Qualcomm QCC5181 Bluetooth chip, capable of decoding LDAC and aptX Lossless, among others.
In terms of sound, a dual ES9069Q DAC delivers maximum audio quality, and its amplifier, developed by THX, reaches 650mW of output power.
Other features such as the redesigned user interface and its new 3D aluminum alloy design make the BTR17 one of the best ultra-compact DAC/Amplifiers for your headphones. Discover it now!
This FiiO BTR17 comes equipped with the new QCC5181 chip developed by Qualcomm, capable of delivering lossless quality through LDAC and aptX Adaptive codecs, along with AAC, aptX HD, and aptX Lossless, offering CD-quality sound reproduction via Bluetooth version 5.4.
The BTR17 features a dedicated desktop mode switch along with a port to connect an independent external power source.
In desktop mode, when connecting the BTR17 to a phone for use as a DAC/Amp, you can also connect an external power source via its dedicated power port. This way, the FiiO's battery will be powered directly from USB.
This structure ensures that the audio output does not compromise on power and quality while preserving the smartphone's battery ergonomics.
The FiiO BTR17 includes a practical three-position switch PC/BT/PHONE to toggle between the device's operating modes.
The mode switching allows the BTR17 to optimize power usage based on the connected device, adding even more versatility to the setup.
The USB chip of the BTR17 is the XMOS XU316, the brand's flagship, offering lower latency, more stable transmission, and better compatibility than standard controllers.
Compatibility with 768kHz/32-bit audio, native DSD512, and full MQA decoding allows the chip to handle any audio stream. The XU316's processing power also enables a high-definition parametric equalizer supporting up to 192kHz audio in the BTR17.
Thanks to the high-precision 10-band PEQ available in FiiO's software, you can precisely adjust frequency points, gain, bandwidth, and other parameters according to your sound preferences. It is fully compatible with the FiiO Control app, developed by the brand to leverage all the device's features.
The FiiO BTR17 is compatible with all headphones on the market, even the most demanding ones. The Amp/DAC features dual 3.5mm and balanced 4.4mm outputs, and also supports inline controls via the CTIA protocol.
Inside the FiiO BTR17, we find two ESS9069Q DACs based on the 4th generation 32-bit HyperStream architecture, delivering high performance with lower power consumption.
This architecture helps further reduce digital noise within the DAC, allowing it to achieve a dynamic range of 130dB and a total harmonic distortion of -120dB. The result is richer, more musical sound over a cleaner background.
The FiiO BTR17 uses the THX AAA 78+ headphone amplifier, also present in devices like the FiiO KA17 and FiiO M23. The fully balanced four-channel design uses eight operational amplifiers in parallel, ensuring robust yet controlled power for clearer, more natural sound.
Through the balanced output, FiiO's most robust DAC/Amp dongle to date can deliver up to 650mW + 650mW of power, representing a 203% increase compared to the FiiO BTR7.
Within its compact body, the BTR17 integrates high-end HiFi-level signal processing for mid-to-high range audio.
Digital signals are skillfully handled by dual clock audio and the DAC. The LPF preamplification and multi-stage analog audio processing ensure that details and dynamic range are restored with precision, as premium digital audio players do.
The built-in temperature and DC output detection systems in the FiiO BTR17 prevent damage to the device and headphones in case of abnormal conditions, ensuring safer use.
The BTR17's interface has been completely redesigned. Its 1.3-inch IPS screen offers a modern touch and perfectly adapts to the user's needs. The design focuses on ease of use, integrating color codes that intuitively indicate the codec in use, bit rate, and other important details.
Additionally, the volume knob features a dual-sided 3D engraved design, providing excellent tactile feedback and precise control. The body, made of 3D aluminum alloy, incorporates a sturdy two-section front panel, ensuring a comfortable and ergonomic grip.
