Amplifier

The powerful integrated 300W RMS class D amplifier is highly linear, tracking and reproducing the required signal without the slightest bias. Designed not only for continuous power, but also for peaks, this subwoofer is capable of delivering a peak power of 500W. It is very relevant when used for both music and movies.

The switching power supply is part of the reason for the amplifier's low consumption and impressive efficiency. The combination between the high-efficiency amplifier and the power supply generates minimal heat emission. For that reason, this subwoofer does not get hot.

The built-in limiter compares the amplitude of the input signal with the potential level of the output signal. If the circuit detects a possible problem, the limiter cuts the signal smoothly without affecting the peak power.

Equipped with gain, cut-off frequency and phase controls, the DALI SUB M-10 D will adapt to any front speaker and room acoustics. And with the choice between LFE or line inputs you can connect to almost any amplifier, receiver or processor.

DALI SUB M-10 D allows you to choose between modes for music or cinema, also from the remote control. For realistic and powerful reproduction of, among others, explosions in a movie, the sound mode should be changed to CINEMA, amplifying the lower frequencies to ensure realism. For neutral and very linear playback, the sound mode should be changed to HIFI. This ensures accurate reproduction of all the details of the music, while optimizing integration with the front speakers.

The subwoofer also includes its own remote control that allows the level, crossover frequency and phase to be adjusted without the user having to move from their favorite listening position. Power and Mute can also be controlled remotely.

Active Woofer

DALI SUB M-10 D is equipped with a 10" downward-facing active woofer. The cone is a sandwich construction with carbon fiber in the front combined with paper pulp in the rear. The geometry and materials eliminate the need for a dust cover. The result is a rigid cone with groundbreaking characteristics while at the same time being light and agile. In fact, they are necessary characteristics for accurate bass reproduction, reproducing all the dynamics of the bass. signal.

The four-capable voice coil is mounted on an aluminum bracket. To reduce potential microresonances, the interior has been lined covered with a thin layer of paper pulp. The diameter of the voice coil is a solid 63.5 mm to ensure maximum power supported. A large two-piece ferrite magnet with a vented magnetic piece ensures that the voice coil stays in a tight space, even when it's moving. For optimal cone control, the woofer includes a dual spider positioned 12mm away. In this way, the voice coil maintains 100% of its piston behavior, even at very high sound pressure.

Overall, DALI's low-loss approach is taken to the maximum. Which also influences the surround. Made from wide natural rubber it forms part of the suspension and also ensures neutrality throughout the full excursion of the 25mm cone. Even the bulky braided cables are made of solid silver plated copper with 99.999% oxygen absence for optimal signal power.

The chassis is made of aluminum to prevent any magnetic loss. And much research has led to a construction created entirely for the lowest possible mechanical and magnetic loss while ensuring air flow.

Housing

The SUB M-10 D housing has been designed and built with all the DALI knowledge and experience in acoustics, the solid MDF housing allows it to achieve the demanding DALI specifications.

DALI SUB M-10D includes a downward-focused woofer, capable of moving a large amount of air. To ensure a stable working environment for the woofer, the base of the case is made of plywood. This ensures a solid base for the driver, eliminating any loss related to holding the driver itself. 

By applying a smooth aluminum base and solid aluminum spacers, the entire case is elevated off the ground. It almost appears to float above the ground at a distance of 45 mm which eliminates any potential turbulence due to this space. At the same time, the proximity ensures that the benefits of a downward-focused woofer are maintained; great efficiency and fluid acoustic coupling to the room.

Measuring just 370 x 340 x 340 mm (H x W x D), the enclosure is extremely compact despite its deep, powerful subwoofer nature. Includes 10 layers of lacquer. Each one is polished by hand to ensure a deep, elegant and high-gloss finish.
